What kind of equipment (camera body, lens, filters, flash, tripod, cleaning equipment other) do you use?

I use a Canon 5d Mark III, 16-35 mm for architecture shots, 135 mm for portrait shots and a 24-105 mm for general purpose carry-on lens. I also use a Manfrotto tripod and Lee filters Big stopper for long exposure shots.

What do you like and dislike about your equipment, specially your camera, and how would you improve it?

I like everything about the camera, especially the low-light capability and the perfect focus the camera achieves. If I plan on an upgrade, I would like the 1DX.

What is your favourite lens, and why?

135 mm is my favorite lens, the bokeh it gives is just wonderful.

When you travel, what is in your essential photographic kit bag?

When I travel, I have my camera, a wide-angle lens and the 135 mm lens. I sometimes carry the 24-105 mm f4.0L for longer trips as this is a good kit lens that serves well in cities.

What kind of software/tools do you use for post-processing, if any?

I use Adobe Photoshop and Lightroom.

How long have you been taking photographs? How do you find inspiration? How do you take your pictures?

I have been taking photographs since I was 16 years old. I started off with a point and shoot Olympus camera and when I met my husband, he had a Canon 400D which I then started using. I find inspiration in the simple things of life, nature and most recently from Pinterest 😉

Which style of photography do you like the most, and why?

I like portrait photography the most, I tend to implement some European flavor into most of my shots given my Russian origin. Portrait photography provides an opportunity to portray an individual’s personality, however it also is so versatile that you can manipulate an image with your creativity (and photoshop) to show the viewer what you wish to show.

What goal are you working towards within your photography and when will you know you have reached it?

I am working towards developing myself into a destination Wedding photographer. I have just started on this path and I assume that when I get to photograph at least 25 weddings an year around the World then I can safely assume that I have reached my goal.

Looking at your own work, which piece is your favourite? Why? Please provide a link to the picture.

I work as a team with my husband, and both of us like fake tilt-shift photography. This is essentially taking a normal photo and converting it into miniature versions. Here is a link to one that is our favorite, my personal favorite is from portrait photography of Alexa a model that I recently photographed.

Does your work fit into any one or more distinct genres (nature, landscape, long-exposure, black-and-white, infra-red, urban, artistic, macro, vintage, vernacular, social, street)? If other, please specify.

A problem that arose by teaming up with my husband is that we are not anymore limited to one particular genre of photography. We specialize in portrait, wedding, maternity, nature, landscape, long-exposure and tilt-shift photography.

Are there any photography websites that you visit regularly?

I regularly visit 500pxTPTStreamzoo, and Instagram.

What kind of equipment (camera body, lens, filters, flash, tripod, cleaning equipment other) do you use?

I use a canon 5d mark iii with a sigma 50mm 1.4 mostly. My tripod is a triopo. I never used any cleaning thing but maybe I should, so if anyone knows a good one, please let me know!

What do you like and dislike about your equipment, specially your camera, and how would you improve it?

My autofocus is the worse!!! Especially on my 50mm! I would need to have it checked I think. I got canon because I’m doing videos as well and the quality is much better on it.. But I miss the autofocus of my Nikon.

What is your favourite lens, and why?

Definitely my sigma 50mm! I love the bokeh it creates. I’m all about big apertures.

When you travel, what is in your essential photographic kit bag?

My 5d, 2 lenses (the 50mm and a 24-104 that I never use but always have with me just in case if), my fuji instax and an old Contax. I love film cameras. Oh and of course one of my travelling car or Vespa!!!

What kind of software/tools do you use for post-processing, if any?

I process all my pictures through Lightroom. It’s a great tool, I love it! I don’t do photo manipulation so it’s more for giving my pictures this vintage look.

How long have you been taking photographs? How do you find inspiration? How do you take your pictures?

I’ve always had a thing for cameras… I only got my own dslr  in 2011 and I think that’s when I started taking pictures for the artistic side.

Everything around me inspire me. I’m a music worm so I would say that the music I listen to is a great inspiration. As well as movies or literature! I see things and then they get stuck in my head, so have to click the good picture to have some space. Now that I’m studying at University of the Arts London they are teaching us how to research and inspire your work. The most helpful part for me is museums but generally I see life as an opportunity to take pictures all the time.

Which style of photography do you like the most, and why?

I like everything that has depth and that is there to communicate an emotion to the viewer. For me photography is all about telling a story.

What goal are you working towards within your photography and when will you know you have reached it?

I want to become a professional photographer. I’m a photographer now, but in a way I’m still learning and I don’t think I’ll ever stop learning, but can’t call myself a pro. I have my own style and would like to be known for it. I would like to live of my photography, sell pictures, make adverts and I think the day I’ll get my bachelor degree will be a huge milestone.

Looking at your own work, which piece is your favourite? Why? Please provide a link to the picture.

I think this is my favourite. It changes all the time. I’ve had the feeling I’ve been doing the same thing too much and I like that this one is a bit different. It’s also moving and tells a story, whichever you want it to be!

Does your work fit into any one or more distinct genres (nature, landscape, long-exposure, black-and-white, infra-red, urban, artistic, macro, vintage, vernacular, social, street)? If other, please specify.

Maybe Vintage. I’d say story telling? I usually call it fine art.

Are there any photography websites that you visit regularly?

I’m bad at keeping updated, life is so busy! I go on 500px and Instagram and Pinterest.. But visit a lot of Art Galleries and exhibitions, London’s the best for that!

What is the one most important lesson that you have learned since you started taking photographs?

That there is no better feeling than the one you get when you take an amazing shot. Even if life is being tough, photography will always provide me an escape to another happier world..

And finally, what other interesting photographers would you like to see in this blog?

I’d love you to feature the creative genius Jussi Ulkuniemi (http://jussiulkuniemi.com) He is an amazing photographer from Finland! Also I’m always impressed by my friend Evan James Atwood’s work (http://evanjamesatwood.com), he is incredible at storytelling.

What kind of equipment (camera body, lens, filters, flash, tripod, cleaning equipment other) do you use?

I shoot a nikon d7000, nikon 50mm 1.4 ai, and a samyang 85mm 1.4. I use a nice compact manfrotto tripod of model number I can’t remember.

What do you like and dislike about your equipment, specially your camera, and how would you improve it?

Bigger sensor. If it was full frame it would be the ultimate camera (for me). I love the build quality.

What is your favourite lens, and why?

Samyang 85mm f1.4. It always makes a mondain scene into a bokehlicious wonderland.

When you travel, what is in your essential photographic kit bag?

Camera, lenses stated above, deck of cards, charger, lens cloth, tripod mount, and a remote. Oh, and a toothbrush. You never know.

What kind of software/tools do you use for post-processing, if any?

Photoshop. That’s pretty much it. With adobe switching to subscription only, I would love an alternative but none really exists.

How long have you been taking photographs? How do you find inspiration? How do you take your pictures?

I have been shooting since I was 8, so six years. I find inspiration often right before falling asleep. I take picture by pushing the shutter button and standing in front of the camera.

Which style of photography do you like the most, and why?

Environmental portraits, at the moment. They combine landscape and portrait seamlessly.

What goal are you working towards within your photography and when will you know you have reached it?

I have none, other than to become a better photographer but that will take the rest of my life.
Looking at your own work, which piece is your favourite? Why? Please provide a link to the picture.

At the moment, this one (www.flickr.com/photos/fiddleoak/7770751130/) but it changes daily.
Does your work fit into any one or more distinct genres (nature, landscape, long-exposure, black-and-white, infra-red, urban, artistic, macro, vintage, vernacular, social, street)? If other, please specify.

All of the above. I haven’t done much street shooting or infrared, but I am willing to try anything.
Are there any photography websites that you visit regularly?

Flickr. Daily. If not three of four times a day.

What is the one most important lesson that you have learned since you started taking photographs?

Forget the rules! Shoot what feels right and it will look right.
And finally, what other interesting photographers would you like to see in this blog?

I love tungusta’s photography (www.flickr.com/photos/tunguska_rdm/) always something lovely and new to see.

What kind of equipment (camera body, lens, filters, flash, tripod, cleaning equipment other) do you use?

 I shoot tethered with a  5d MK2.

What do you like and dislike about your equipment, specially your camera, and how would you improve it?

There is nothing i really dislike about my camera, I do however wish it had a more powerful sensor.

What is your favourite lens, and why?

I prefer to shoot as wide as possible anything from 10 mm to 14 mm.

When you travel, what is in your essential photographic kit bag?

I don’t travel much in relation to my work, but if I did. it would include a camera and some film. The less I have to work with the more creative it forces me to be.

What kind of software/tools do you use for post-processing, if any?

Adobe Photoshop if I am doing a composite shot.

How long have you been taking photographs? How do you find inspiration?

Over 10 years. My inspiration come from everything and everyone. I keep my eyes open all the time and try to be as receptive to my emotions and day to day occurrences.

What goal are you working towards within your photography and when will you know you have reached it?

I’m not working towards a specific goal. For me the process is what is most fulfilling.

Looking at your own work, which piece is your favourite? Why?

Its hard to say which is my favourite, I really like how to breathe underwater because of the personal meaning the work has for me and the technical success of it. It’s by far one of the most complex lighting situations I have created.

Does your work fit into any one or more distinct genres  (nature, landscape, long-exposure, black-and-white,  infra-red, urban, artistic, macro, vintage, vernacular, social, street)? If other, please specify.

I call it miniature photography, sometimes I refer to myself as a diorama artist. It varies, Sometime I feel more like a sculptor and at others more of a photographer, My training was very interdisciplinary and I think that is something that has carried on through my work.

What is the one most important lesson that you have learned since you started taking photographs?

Do it only because you love it.

And finally, what other interesting photographers would you like to see in this blog?

I like other photographers such as  Lori Nix, Adam Makarenko, and Patrick Jacobs.
